PUBLISHING HOUSE
The Società Dante Alighieri Editore promotes and guarantees diffusion and visibility to studies mainly in close connection with the European and Mediterranean tradition and their relations with the East, promotes the diffusion of science, deals with the analysis of Europe as a whole, with particular attention to the process of European integration in its internal and external aspects. As part of the Dante Alighieri Society’s network, it provides the necessary tools for cultural growth in the world’s various countries where more than 500 committees are present.
The Società Dante Alighieri Editore places the book as an object at the centre of its productions, conjugated in all its extensions: from paper products, highly accurate in every detail, to digital products, available in any format and therefore usable by the various reading devices on the market.
The close relationship with the university world and the constant exploration of new areas of investigation have led the publishing house to build a prosperous and diversified catalogue.
The activities of the Società Dante Alighieri Editore are coordinated by an Editorial Board appointed by the Executive Council of the Società Dante Alighieri, and the reviewing activities are carried out in double-blind by reviewers who are experts in the different thematic areas in which the publishing house mainly operates: Anthropology, Museums and Cultural Heritage, Archaeology, Philology, Education.
The different areas of study and research that cross, more or less directly, the publishing project are based on the conviction that the fusion of different artistic languages favours the development and growth of cultural movements.
The Società Dante Alighieri Editore counts on a wide distribution throughout the world. This ability to communicate at the service of scientific publications makes the Società Dante Alighieri Editore a privileged channel for disseminating research results in the humanities.
For some years now, universities, national and international research institutes have chosen it for its technical quality and international distribution. Its strength is the possibility to reach and interest institutions, professionals, scholars of the humanities worldwide, promoting its publications and spreading the value of Italian and international scientific research.
The Società Dante Alighieri, a partner in several European projects (H2020 MSCA, ERASMUS PLUS Strategic Partnership, AMIF), represents the primary vehicle for the dissemination of scientific knowledge, ensuring an international diffusion of research results and, at the same time, maintaining, when required, the different languages of reference, instead of opting for a single brand, thus overcoming the territorial boundaries of the publishing market without losing the literary identity of each published work.
Anthropology
Culture and environment are a combination that has conditioned and characterized the birth and development of societies, migrations, exchanges, wars and negotiations. Moreover, cultural traditions are not divided, nor divisible, by national borders; regions or areas belonging to different and bordering nations often offer examples of excellent cultural, environmental and linguistic homogeneity – even though they are typically in other ways inserted in their national context.
The Società Dante Alighieri Editore promotes studies and research that relate cultures to environments, well before political boundaries.
In particular, it enhances studies and research related to human natural and cultural activities to safeguard health and well-being, depending on the environment to which it belongs.
Museums and Cultural Heritage
The Società Dante Alighieri Editore has been committed for years to enhancing and promoting material and immaterial cultural heritage, particularly of lesser-known collections.
It promotes knowledge, critical thinking, participation, and the community’s well-being through the publication of studies and research, best practices, and case studies related to cultural heritage and the territory.
Philology
Encourages the publication of research and methodological reflections that express the tradition of linguistic, philological and historical-literary studies concerning, in particular, the heritage of classical, medieval and modern European culture undertaken with a scientific method.
Education
It promotes research on education, training and didactics, encourages methodological reflections on educational and training processes, and human properties, interactions, organizations, and institutions that influence educational outcomes.
It values the description, understanding, and explanation of how learning takes place throughout people’s lives and how the formal, non-formal, and informal contexts of education influence the forms of learning.
Archaeology
The focus of interest is the archaeological heritage studied as a field of antiquity research, from historical and literary investigation to conservation, management and use.
It promotes, in particular, case studies pertinent to ancient Mediterranean civilizations and the management and valorization of complex cultural heritage, with attention to the mobility of people, ideas, technologies and objects, to the hybridization of cultures and practices of their connectivity.
