Italian language derives from Latin and its modern form is based on the Tuscan vernacular, spoken and elaborated by Dante, Petrarch and Boccaccio in the 14th century. The Tuscan vernacular, like all languages and dialects that developed from Latin, was used in everyday life since ancient times. Italian is one of the 24 official languages of the European Union and is spoken in several Mediterranean countries.

Location and further information. Courses will be held online.

Teachers. Our teachers are native speakers or proficient at C2 level, or university lecturers, and all have long-standing experience in teaching Italian.

Learning. The lessons are supported by the tools of the European Project PASTILLE (European Arts and Traditions in Italian Language Learning).

Final certificate. At the end of the course, the student will obtain a certificate of competence for the level acquired, issued by the Dante Alighieri Society.

PLIDA. Those wishing to obtain PLIDA (Dante Alighieri Italian Language Project) certification, which is recognized internationally and specifically in Poland by the Ministry of National Education (MEN), can take the examination by applying to our certification centre. Each Italian language course is structured to pass the PLIDA certification examination. The exams are held according to the general timetable of the headquarter in Rome (https://plida.dante.global); the PLIDA Juniores exams are addressed to young students. Additional exam sessions at schools or cultural institutions can be arranged.

Language courses. Dante Alighieri Society offers Italian language and culture courses in Wrocław for beginners as well as for those who want to optimize their skills: advanced and business level; one-month intensive courses, for high school graduation and summer courses. We also offer individual courses and Polish courses for Italians (and Italian speakers).

Presentation. Course presentations will take place before the start of each new class session in February and September for the regular sessions and in June for the summer session. An additional opportunity for those interested in courses of all levels to meet and talk with our teachers.

Start of courses. The courses are structured in two sessions, starting in March and October respectively. The Italian language courses for beginners, advanced and business and the Polish courses for Italians are held once a week, for 15 2-hour (120-minute) meetings; it is also possible to schedule classes twice a week for 30 one-and-a-half-hour meetings: the courses will start on the basis of enrolments of at least 4 people per group. Summer courses will start monthly in June, July and August; individual courses and intensive courses will be determined according to personal needs.

Other courses and cultural initiatives. Cinema courses and film festivals, cooking courses and education about Italian food and wine tradition will be organized throughout the year. Furthermore, there will be open lectures held by specialists, researchers, open to the citizens, on the vast constellation concerning Italy: the landscape, folklore, theatre, art, literature, music, history and the rich tradition of Italy and Italians.
